The Mission The mission of the Richmond Free Press is to empower its readers by contributing to the balance of news reporting and commentary in the Richmond area; and, simultaneously, to educate its readers about important issues touching their lives and to motivate them to be fully heard on these issues. The newspaper seeks a brighter future for the city by finding common ground for all our citizens to work together to revitalize Richmond and improve the quality of life for its people. The Free Press places high value on quality and is guided by a commitment to the eternal principles of truth, integrity, robust debate and justice. Circulation The Richmond Free Press penetrates Richmond’s African-American community every week with a circulation of 32,256 and a readership of more than 125,000. Each copy of the Free Press is read and passed on to no fewer than four readers throughout the week following its publication. Distribution The Richmond Free Press is a controlled circulation newspaper. It is distributed free of charge with the dual capacity of reaching its desired readers with credibility and influence while penetrating the market at a level that proves beneficial to advertisers. Distribution is Thursday morning through newsstands and newspaper boxes located throughout the metropolitan area at selected bus stops, churches, government buildings, the airport, colleges, grocery stores, drug stores and other high traffic locations convenient to readers. |
Advertising Deadline All insertion orders must be received by Friday at 5 p.m., five days prior to publication. Camera-ready art must be received no later than Tuesday at noon, two days before publication. Contracts Contracts are available in accordance with frequency and price schedules on this rate card. Commissions A 15% commission will be credited to recognized agencies. Credit/Payment Policy All advertising credit accounts must be approved. Payment is due within 10 days of invoice date unless otherwise specified. Entertainment and political advertising must be paid in advance. A finance charge may be assessed on balances over 30 days. It will be computed on a periodic rate of 2% per month, which is an annual rate of 24%. The advertiser is liable for all legal costs if account is placed for collection. Cancelation and Changes After Deadlines No cancellations may be made after 5 p.m. on Friday prior to the Thursday publication. Copy changes may be made up to noon on Tuesday, two days before publication. A 15% change fee will be assessed on copy changes that are necessary on Wednesday and not the result of newspaper error. No copy changes whatsoever can be made after noon on Wednesday. |
